Carol L. Alter, M.D.

Founder and Executive Director

Dr. Alter is an Associate Professor in the Georgetown University Department of Psychiatry and Directs the Department’s Policy and Community Outreach activities in addition to serving as the Executive Director of Treatment Effectiveness Now (“TEN Project”) Dr. Alter is a psychiatrist with over 15 years experience in diverse settings in healthcare including clinical practice, research, administrative functioning, healthcare delivery and the pharmaceutical industry. Her clinical and academic areas of interest focus on the psychiatric care of AIDS and oncology patients. She is the author of numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts, monographs and book chapters related to psychosomatic medicine and access to psychiatric care. In addition she has shown significant leadership in the areas of healthcare policy and financing, has received the honor of Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine and serves on and chairs several national committees. She received her medical degree from the George Washington University and did her psychiatric training at the Mayo Clinic, Cornell University Medical College and the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.


Danna E. Mauch, Ph.D., Founder and Chairman of the Board

Danna Mauch, PhD. has more than 30 years of experience in designing, implementing and managing research, clinical and administrative services in the behavioral health arena. The focus of her work has been on integration of systems of care, financing, and management information. Dr. Mauch worked most recently as chief administrative officer of the Behavioral Pharmacy Management System and Medical Research International subsidiaries at Comprehensive NeuroScience, Inc., conducting pharmacoeconomic research and developing an evidence-based decision-support system to improve the quality and efficacy of prescribing under Medicaid and Health Plan programs. Prior to that, Dr. Mauch was president and CEO of Magellan Public Solutions, Inc., the subsidiary of Magellan Health Services that provides managed care and administrative services to the largest number of lives in government-financed behavioral health, child welfare, and criminal justice organizations. Dr. Mauch was appointed special master by the U.S. Federal Court of the District of Columbia to administer the Court’s consent decree governing mental health system reform in Washington. She was a member of the SAMHSA National Advisory Council, the White House Conference, and the Surgeon General’s Task Force on Mental Health, as well as board president of the Massachusetts Association for Mental Health and committee chair of the MetroWest Community Health Care Foundation.
